The Saskatoon Osteoporosis Centre provides bone density testing for patients being seen by a rheumatologist as well as patients that are referred to our centre by their physician, chiropractor or nurse practitioner.
There are two bone density units on site, the Hologic Discovery and the Hologic Horizon.
At present, there are two X-ray technologists that perform bone densities, both of which have been certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). They are experienced, dedicated bone density techs that provide safe care and precision testing.
If you have been referred by a rheumatologist, your physician will discuss the results with you.
If you have been referred by your physician, chiropractor or nurse practitioner, Dr. Olszynski will interpret the results based on the test and a brief medical questionnaire that you will complete when you come to your appointment. This interpretation as well as the test results will then be sent to your referring practitioner.
